Founded in 2017 by Karla Schön, Vanity Flair was born of the sheer frustration that the bathroom vanity units on the market were uninspiring and mostly made of plastic or cheap MDF. Karla decided to challenge the status quo and turned her passion for unique, quirky and colourful interiors into a business that specialised in creating extraordinary bathroom furniture by repurposing quality antique and vintage pieces.
Having worked in various Art Departments in the film and television industry after graduating with a Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Set Design, Karla was up to the challenge. With training in graphic and conceptual design, and hands-on experience in woodworking and professional spray painting, Karla used her unusual mix of skills to design and create bespoke vanities from concept through to completion.
Each of Karla’s pieces has that ‘wow’ factor, a unique aesthetic and a history you cannot find with new, off-the-shelf bathroom furniture. Every unit is carefully designed after sourcing and selecting the furniture itself, as well as bathroom fittings such as basins, hardware, brassware and quartz to blend with it. She then crafts all these elements together to meet each individual client’s requirements.
